Ugandan Students Shine at World Robot Olympiad
Our students represented Uganda at the World Robot Olympiad international finals, bringing home recognition and valuable experience.
We are incredibly proud to announce that a team of students from our robotics program represented Uganda at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) international finals held in Germany last month.
The team, consisting of three students from different schools in Kampala, competed in the Regular Category with their innovative robot designed to address sustainable energy challenges. Their project, "SolarBot," is an autonomous robot that optimizes the positioning of solar panels to maximize energy collection.
While they didn't bring home a medal this time, the team's performance was outstanding, especially considering this was Uganda's first participation in the international finals. The judges commended their innovative approach and technical implementation.
Beyond the competition itself, the experience was transformative for our students. They had the opportunity to interact with peers from over 80 countries, exchange ideas, and gain exposure to cutting-edge robotics innovations from around the world.
"This experience has opened my eyes to the possibilities in robotics and technology. I'm inspired to continue developing solutions that can address challenges in our community," said team member David, age 15.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and partners who made this participation possible. This achievement marks just the beginning of Uganda's journey in international robotics competitions, and we're excited to see what our students will accomplish next.
